Moreover, the fluorocarbon bond energy is large and the heat resistance is good. These advantages lead to the outstanding performance of the fluorine-containing water repellent. Before the 21st century, they were widely used as a "three-proof" finishing agent. PFOA (perfluorooctyl sulfonic acid) and PFOS (perfluorooctyl carboxylic acid) in typical fluorine-containing water repellent agents can accumulate in organisms, which are harmful to the ecological environment and human health.
▲What is PFOA?
The Chinese name of PFOA is perfluorooctyl sulfonic acid. On the market, PFOA stands for perfluorooctanoic acid and its ammonium salt and is called "C8". ▲What is PFOS?

Recently, Dow launched a new product, DOWSILTM IE-8749, a fluorine-free water repellent. The technology used was developed in cooperation with Dow and Nikka Chemical. The water repellent is based on a new organic silicon material. Compared with the traditional silicone water repellent, the water repellency of the fabric is improved, and its water repellency is still very excellent even after multiple washings. By incorporating DOWSILTM IE-8749 into the fabric finishing process, the hand feel of the fabric can be better controlled. Depending on the amount of addition, it can achieve a firmer hand feel with the addition of crosslinking agent from the very soft hand that is unique when using silicone alone. . The fluorine-free water-repellent finishing agent RUCO-DRY ECO launched by Rudolf is a kind of hyperbranched dendrimer polymer that does not contain organic halides and does not contain APEO, which is suitable for the water-repellent finishing of various fiber types.

The fluorine-free water repellent PHOBOL RSH launched by Huntsman is suitable for the water repellent finishing of cellulose fibers and their blended fabrics with synthetic fibers. It can be used in combination with fluorocarbon water repellents to reduce the use of fluorine water repellents. Environmental pressure.

The fluorine-free water repellent NT-X018 from Nano-Tex of the United States is a durable water repellent with a hydrocarbon molecular structure, suitable for the water repellent finishing of cotton, polyester, nylon and their blended fabrics.

In the future, environmentally friendly fluorine-free water repellents will become more and more popular. Further improving the water repellency and washing resistance of fluorine-free water-repellent agents, and the development of fluorine-free "three-proof" finishing agents with both oil and stain resistance will be the development trend of water-repellent finishing agents in the future.
